Today i came across a so called co-ed University where boys & girls are not supposed talk to each. even looking at each other is a offense. Interestingly the administration is proud of framing such sick rules and result of this they have got it in print.
Sathyabama University is a Private University in Tamil Nadu, India, founded in 1987 managed by Jeppiaar Educational Trust.It is a Christian Minority Institution.It is a deemed University which allows it to frame its own rules.

These are against gender equality & Fundamental right to Equality defined in our constitution
- Girls and boys are not allowed to interact with each other in the campus.
- Separate seating arrangements for girls and boys in the mess, class and bus.

I agree. But there are many colleges in Chennai like that you know. I know its actually very bad. Some of the schools in Chennai also have those kind of rules. But the shocking part of it is, a few students really prefer it that way!

All the schools in Namakkal district (TamilNadu) have these kind of rules. To name few,
1. Mahabharathi Hrs. School,
2. Kurinji Hrs. School,
3. S.R.V. Hrs. School,
4. TNPL Mr. Hrs. School, Pugalur, Karur.
and all other schools in Namakkal.
I know some colleges with this rule.
1. Pavai Engineeing college, Namakkal.
2. Madha Engineering college, Koondrathur, Chennai.
3. M. Kumarasamy Engg. College, Karur.
4. etc.
India is the only democratic country where the pepole have to fight even for their basic rights.
I would be better if the goverment sets a grivence cell for school students.
Not only are this there many more unfair practice being done in the colleges. especially in Tamil Nadu.
1. The management collects fine for taking leave this many range from (50-500Rs. depending on the college)
2. The staff themselves will stop the students from writing the internal assessment test and will grant very low marks in the final exam.
3. Many institutes make it compulsory to use the college transport to fill their pockets. (The students need to pay min. 8000 even if he/she comes from around 1Km. or less)
4. Breakfast and lunch are made compulsory which will be worst to the core.
5. You need pay 1000-5000 Rs. for getting your hall ticket for each semester apart from paying the yerly fees, all of them in black.
6. Will impose fine for everything you do if the student talk, walks, sits whatever the student does. The management will make it a Issue.
7. Then regarding practical and internals. This is a fact known to everyone. The staffs think them to be dictators.
Where all this will end god only knows.
Madha Engineering college, Kundrathoor, Chennai – 69 is a worst college to study engineering, rather you can remain without any graduation.

I feel sad, that the students studying in this clg does not have the co-ed. Restrictions to the students is necessary but it should not beyond the limits. Eventhough the mgmt restricts them in the campus, they can do as their wish out of the campus. if we impose them the rules, i think they will react rigourously. Apart 4m the studies, students require some sort of enjoyment., that can be possible by the co-education. So i kindly request the mgmt to provide co-ed and have an eye on the part of students and put them under their control by providing them friendly environment.

i m also studying in this college at present..rules hv bcum quite linient. bt a boy cn tok to a gal bt of d same branch during break hours and the food , staffs and placement in sathyabama is quite remarkable as compared to other colleges in chennai. The stictness of d managmnt on d studnt nt only applies fr students but it is equally applicable fr staffs in various ways.. cheers fr d university !
I read the “IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS” and I felt that they were developed to sustain discipline in Sathyabama’s Campus by Dr. Jeppiar. But the question is “IS IT ONLY FOR STUDENTS?” because i heard that certain faculties are doing some fradulent activities by putting higher official’s signature, including Dr. Jeppiar’s signature for their benefits. Further, teasing/threatening students also carriedout just for their politics within as well as between departments. If such a kind of faculties are maintained by Sathyabama University, then it will detriment its reputation by developing noisy situations.
